Many insiders of the mobility sector believe that innovations are only worth the effort if their result is a reduction of costs. It was never the philosophy of Ulrich Alber GmbH to take beaten paths. A new concept for a power assist was introduced to the mobility market in 1992 with the e·fix. This has found its segment in todady mobility market. The Motors are placed in the wheel hub - compact and inconspicuous. This way a manual wheelchair can be made powered in a short period of time without have a power wheelchair`s disadvantages. Many wheelchair users have adopted this concept and are now mobile not only in their own (foldable) wheelchair but also in combination with their car - due to detachable wheels and batteries.

It was obvious that there are other applications for the wheelhub-motors. Why not equip a complete power wheelchair with this innovative technology? This question was answered in 2003 with the power wheelchair ADVENTURE.

The vision

A power wheelchair, that can be transported in a medium-sized car, that unites unknown driving comfort and safety. Simply and individually adjustable to the users specific needs and still long living and reliable.

Its catalogue of requirements was not at all small. It should be quite different from what was know before. Nowadays traditional technology is used in the power wheelchair segment – steelframes and standard motors with worm or spur gears. The reason for this mainly is the long experience and the proved stableness of the technology. But „standard“ was not the claim the Alber team had during the development process – they wanted to create something basically new.
